Basic Doctrine - Part 1
Basic Doctrine systematically unpacks the most foundational beliefs in Christianity that enable sound Christian thinking. Completing this course will also challenge you to grow personally in your relationship with God.

Basic Doctrine systematically unpacks the most foundational beliefs in Christianity that enable sound Christian thinking. Completing this course will also challenge you to grow personally in your relationship with God.
Old Testament Survey
Old Testament Survey aims to provide an overview of the 39 books of the Old Testament by examining their historical context, the circumstances of their writing, their authors, the dates they were written, and their main messages.
New Testament Survey
New Testament Survey offers a broad overview of the 27 books of the New Testament. It focuses on the historical context and central themes of each book, highlighting their unique contributions to the overall message of the Bible.
Understanding Biblical Covenants
This course begins with developing the idea of “covenant” as it existed in the Ancient Near Eastern world. It will then move sequentially through all nine covenants found throughout Scriptures that are keys to understand the divine purpose of God.

Ken Malmin
Dean, Professor
Ken serves as the Dean of PBC as well as fulfilling the role of a full-time professor. Ken came to Portland Bible College from Oral Roberts University in 1971. After graduating from PBC in 1973 he began teaching that same year and has been a vital part of the college ever since. He became the Dean in 1986. He often refers to his long tenure with "I'm addicted to college students." Ken is from a family of ministers, his father and grandfathers also being in the ministry. He also serves as an executive pastor and elder Mannahouse and is on the Apostolic Leadership Team of Ministers' Fellowship International (MFI). Ken has co-authored five textbooks, which are used in the classroom at PBC and around the world. He is known for his ability to illuminate scripture and doctrine with precision while at the same time making it personally applicable. Ken and his wife Glenda are like dad and mom to the PBC campus enjoying the opportunity to be personally involved in the lives of many of the students. They also have two adult children that are both married and are also blessed with 5 grandchildren.
Lanny Hubbard
Professor
Lanny was born and raised in the Portland area. After three years serving in the armed forces, he attended PBC and completed his Bachelor degree. He has functioned on staff at the college since 1978 and has become a respected Teacher, Pastor and Elder at Mannahouse. In 2006, he graduated from Western Seminary with an MA in exegetical theology. He is known for having both wide and deep knowledge of the Bible and if anyone is considered an “expert” on the Bible, Lanny would fit the bill. He has worked with his wife Joanne in developing new courses for the online program. They have raised three children who are all graduates from PBC and are actively involved in ministry. Lanny Hubbard’s deep understanding of the scriptures will open your eyes to how the Bible is relevant today.

Online audit courses operate as Independent Study where students can start anytime and work at their own pace. Students do not submit assignments or engage directly with the professor or other students.
All PBC courses offer comprehensive course notes, which include the points, scriptures and even charts and images that every student can download and keep when the course is done. Students are not able to download actual course lectures to their devices. PBC offers many free lectures and resources to our community, but entire courses are copyrighted.
Several of our courses have been translated to Spanish and Portuguese. Contact us at [email protected] and let us know your interest about our courses in Spanish or Portuguese.
By subscribing or purchasing our courses, you are welcome to teach our materials in your local context and language. Please keep in mind that translation does not equal ownership of the courses. Teaching PBC courses in other languages does not include permission to sell the translated content or upload translations online. Please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] and ask for permission if you want to do wider disbursement.
Students must have a computer (PC or Mac) and access to a high-speed internet connection to stream videos. Many lectures should also play on mobile and tablet devices, but the PBC help desk is unable to provide technical support for those. The lectures will work on any browser, but we have found Firefox to provide the most consistent display.
