Life of Christ
Life of Christ is an in depth study of the life, ministry, and teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ taken from the parallel Gospel accounts.
Doctrine of the Church
Doctrine of the Church is a comprehensive biblical study of the Church's purpose, place, and significance. It provides a theological foundation for understanding the value of the Church, both in its historical context as well as in today's world.
Holy Spirit
This course aims to help you gain both a deep understanding of the theology of the Holy Spirit and practical application to experience Spirit-filled life as you walk more fully in your calling.
Worldviews
This course attempts to articulate for students how each worldview answers the following big questions of life: Knowledge Question, Reality Question, God Question, Morality Question, Identity Question, Meaning Question, and the Eternity Question.
Instructors:
Glenda Malmin
Professor
Glenda is the Dean of Women at Portland Bible College as well as an instructor. She is known for her counseling abilities and her sensitive approach to real life issues. Glenda is a sought-after speaker for women’s conferences around the world and is a gifted communicator with a strong prophetic message. She has also authored four books that reflect her heart to see women rise to be who God has called and anointed them to be.
Travis Arnold
Professor
Travis graduated from Portland Bible College in 2007 with a Bachelor of Theology. He briefly served Pastor Frank Damazio as his assistant before returning to PBC in 2008 to teach full time. He earned his Master's in Biblical and Theological Studies at Western Seminary. Travis also serves as an elder at Mannahouse. He and his wife Rachel live just outside Portland in Vancouver, Washington with their three young children. Their mutual passion is that of Ezra: “to study the law of the Lord and to practice it, and to teach his statutes and ordinances in Israel" (Ezra 7:10).
Carlos Marin
Professor
Carlos Marin and his family joined Mannahouse in 2003. His outstanding leadership skills have been appreciated in Mannahouse as a Pastor of one of the Spanish Campuses, as well as in Portland Bible College. Carlos brings an excellent blend of education, ministerial, and work experience to Portland Bible College. His educational background includes a B.S. in Organizational Leadership from Biola University and an MBA from George Fox University. His Ministerial experience encompasses a wide variety of positions in youth ministry, worship leading, and as the International Hispanic Youth Overseer for Victory Outreach International, and Associate Pastor at Comunidad Cristiana Nueva Esperanza in Los Angeles, CA. He also worked as the Director of Legal Services for Hopes Gift International and has been working in the High Education Administration for the last nine years at the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management and George Fox University. He resides in Happy Valley, Oregon with his wife and their two daughters.
Sarah Nashif-Tan
Professor
Sarah Nashif-Tan has worked in multiple government, public policy, and advocacy roles as well as spent nine months working in Uganda on poverty and education projects, before coming to Portland Bible College in 2009, where she serves as Vice-President of Innovation as well as a Professor. Sarah graduated with her Bachelor’s in Government and International Politics from George Mason University in Washington DC and went on to complete her Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from George Fox University in Portland Oregon. She is also a perpetual student at PBC, consistently taking Bible courses over the last 15 years. Sarah has traveled to over 25 countries. She and her husband, Wesley, have two boys and serve on the Mannahouse Pastoral Team. Sarah is a true Daniel to society. Her passion for social justice and applying the Word of God to social issues will motivate you to be a reforming influence in culture.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Online audit courses operate as Independent Study where students can start anytime and work at their own pace. Students do not submit assignments or engage directly with the professor or other students.
All PBC courses offer comprehensive course notes, which include the points, scriptures and even charts and images that every student can download and keep when the course is done. Students are not able to download actual course lectures to their devices. PBC offers many free lectures and resources to our community, but entire courses are copyrighted.
Several of our courses have been translated to Spanish and Portuguese. Contact us at [email protected] and let us know your interest about our courses in Spanish or Portuguese.
By subscribing or purchasing our courses, you are welcome to teach our materials in your local context and language. Please keep in mind that translation does not equal ownership of the courses. Teaching PBC courses in other languages does not include permission to sell the translated content or upload translations online. Please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] and ask for permission if you want to do wider disbursement.
Students must have a computer (PC or Mac) and access to a high-speed internet connection to stream videos. Many lectures should also play on mobile and tablet devices, but the PBC help desk is unable to provide technical support for those. The lectures will work on any browser, but we have found Firefox to provide the most consistent display.
